Volunteer
Give something back to the community
Here at Ashbourne Community Transport, we have a great team of volunteers that help us to continue providing our services to those who need it most. However, we are always looking for new volunteers willing to sacrifice their time in order to help the community. Volunteers are an essential part of allowing us to continue doing what we do. See below for all positions currently available. Full training will be given to each volunteer in order for you to feel completely confident in your duties. If you have spare time on your hands and would like the opportunity to give something back to the community, please contact our office on 01335 300 670.
Drivers
Volunteer your time to take our elderly and disabled passengers to all manner of health related and personal appointments.
All volunteers must have a full, clean drivers licence – ideally a category D1. However, drivers without a D1 can still volunteer using our company car. Also, a full DBS check will be undertaken by us to ensure you are suitable for the role.Previous experience of community bus driving, although desirable, is not necessary as full training will be given.
Relief Drivers
The same role as a full or part-time driver, but working at the start and end of the day (our busiest times) covering school runs or other contracted runs.

Passenger Assistants
Passenger Assistants (PAs) are a vital part of our Adult Daycare services. The role of a PA is to assist passengers getting on/off the bus (including wheelchair users), ensuring seat-belts are fastened safely and that the passengers are comfortable.
PAs must have a clean DBS - we will perform a check before agreeing to employment. Previous experience of working with disabled and elderly people, although desired, is not necessary as full training will be given. First Aid Training will also be given to all PAs.
